The 1872 United States presidential election in Missouri took place on November 5, 1872, as part of the 1872 United States presidential election. Voters chose 15 representatives, or electors to the Electoral College, who voted for president and vice president.
Missouri voted for the Liberal Republican candidate, Horace Greeley, over Republican candidate, Ulysses S. Grant. Greeley won Missouri by a margin of 11.81%, but died prior to the Electoral College meeting, allowing Missouri's fifteen electors to vote for the candidate of their choice.[1] 8 electors voted for Greeley's running mate Benjamin Gratz Brown, 6 chose to vote for Thomas A. Hendricks, and 1 chose to vote for David Davis.

Footnotes
- Of the 15 Missouri electors, 9 voted for a candidate other than Brown for vice president; George W. Julian received 5 votes from these electors, Thomas E. Bramlette received 3, and William S. Groesbeck received 1. Constitutionally, 8 of these votes must have been cast by electors who voted for Brown for president; however, the precise breakdown of the electoral vote by ticket is not known.
