1977 Bihar Legislative Assembly election was held in 1977 to elect members to the Bihar Legislative Assembly in the state of Bihar, India. The Janata Party's decisive victories in the state and political elections ensured Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur's victory.[1][2][3] Thakur became Chief Minister of Bihar for the second time by winning the legislative party election against Bihar Janata Party President Satyendra Narayan Sinha, formerly of Congress [O], by a vote of 144 to 84. It was pre-decided that Lok Dal Faction of Janata Party would get CM post in Bihar, UP and haryana, while MP, Rajasthan and Himachal went to Jan Sangh faction.
