Legislative Assembly elections were held in Delhi on 29 November 2008 to elect 70 members of the Delhi Legislative Assembly. The voter turnout for the election was 57.60% an increase by 4.18% than the previous election in 2003. The Indian National Congress won the election comfortably winning 43 of the 70 seats, while the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party managed to win 23 seats. Sheila Dikshit of the Indian National Congress was sworn in as the Chief Minister for the third consecutive time.
