The League was known as the Bupa TSL under a commercial naming-rights sponsorship agreement with the company.[2]

Before the season started there were three team changes to the competition with Burnie and Devonport departing the league.[3] Hobart City were replaced in the competition by North Hobart who returned to the competition after a 4-year absence.[4]
