The 2019–20 season was AZ Alkmaar's 53rd season in existence and the club's 22nd consecutive season in the top flight of Dutch football. It covered a period from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020. AZ Alkmaar competed in the Eredivisie, the KNVB Cup and the UEFA Europa League.

  1. After a roof collapse on 10 August 2019 at their regular stadium, AFAS Stadion, Alkmaar, AZ's third qualifying round home match was moved to Cars Jeans Stadion, The Hague. Their play-off round home match was moved to De Grolsch Veste, Enschede.
  2. AZ played their home matches at Cars Jeans Stadion, The Hague, instead of their regular home stadium AFAS Stadion, Alkmaar due to the latter's roof collapse.[18]
