The UPA, fielded V. Vaithilingam, of the Indian National Congress, while the National Democratic Alliance fielded AINRC candidate Dr. K. Narayanasamy. Makkal Needhi Maiam fielded Dr. M. A. S. Subramanian and Naam Tamilar Katchi fielded N. Sharmila Beham.^[1]^[2]
