The final was played between Japan and Pakistan, where Japan beat Pakistan 3–1 in the shoot-out following a 2–2 draw in regulation time. It was the first Sultan Azlan Shah Cup title for Japan.[4] New Zealand won the bronze medal after defeating Malaysia 3–2.[5]
