AIIMS Kashmir is a centrally funded medical infrastructure project located in Awantipora, Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir, India. [1][2][3][4][5][6]

The project, promoted by the Government of India, was initiated on 7 November 2020 and is expected to be completed by 2 December 2025, with an estimated cost of US$229.85 million. As of 2025, the project is under implementation with the status "Notice to Proceed".

Construction

College was planned to be in function from November 2025.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Awantipora, Pulwama district, Jammu & Kashmir, is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2026, according to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Outpatient Department (OPD) services are projected to begin in March–April 2026, while the Inpatient Department (IPD) and academic activities are expected to start by November–December 2026. [7][8]

Staff Positions

Under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), the Indian government approved 244 non-faculty and 94 faculty positions for AIIMS Awantipora, Jammu & Kashmir, on September 5, 2023. Professors, assistant professors, medical officers, nurses, and technical and administrative positions are among the positions available. Once the infrastructure is finished, hiring will start, and salary ranges will be in line with those of the current AIIMS institutes.

Environment Clearance

The proposed All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Awantipora, Pulwama, J&K, requires Environmental Clearance (EC) due to its large scale, and is being developed under the PMSSY scheme.
