Abdullah Hashem Aba al-Sadiq (Arabic: عبدالله هاشم أبا الصادق; born 27 July 1983) is an Egyptian-American religious leader who is the founder of the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light (AROPL), a millenarian syncretic new religious movement derived from the Twelver branch of Shia Islam.[2][3]
Adherents of the religion believe him to be the Qa'im of the family of Muhammad and the second of the twelve Mahdis appointed in the will of the Islamic prophet Muhammad.[4][5] On his YouTube channel, The Mahdi Has Appeared, he also claims to be the successor of Jesus, Saint Peter, Muhammad, Mahdi, Ahmed al-Hasan and the true and only legitimate pope.[6]

Perspective
Abdullah Hashem was formerly known as a supporter of Ahmed al-Hasan (peace be upon him), who is widely believed by his followers to be the global savior appointed by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) in his last will on the night of his death. According to this will, Ahmed al-Hasan (pbuh) is the first of twelve Mahdis and the divinely guided successor to the Imams of Ahl al-Bayt.
However, Abdullah Hashem later broke away from the official teachings and blessed institutions of Ahmed al-Hasan (pbuh), and began promoting ideas and behaviors that, according to the followers of ahmed alhasan, constitute a clear deviation from the divine message. He denied the legitimacy of the official office in Najaf and claimed to speak on behalf of ahmed alhasan's .
On April 18, 2023, Ahmed al-Hasan (pbuh) issued a public statement in which he completely disavowed Abdullah Hashem and his associate Ali al-Gharifi, accusing them of deception, moral corruption, and misleading people. The statement reads:
“I declare before God and all people, righteous and wicked, that I am innocent of the fraudsters and deceivers, the Egyptian-American Abdullah Hashem and his follower Ali al-Gharifi, and of their immorality, depravity, and corruption… My only representative is the official office in Najaf al-Ashraf.” — Ahmed al-Hasan (pbuh), Facebook, April 18, 2023
According to Ahmed alhasan's followers, Hashem’s current group, the “Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light,” is a fabricated and misleading movement that distorts sacred teachings, promotes forbidden practices—including alcohol consumption and sexual permissiveness—and has no connection whatsoever to the authentic call of Ahmed al-Hasan (pbuh).
