Activities

He was originally from the Daraa town of Busra al-Sham, which he fled after its takeover by rebel forces in 2013 and relocated to a farm near Suwayda.[2]

Wafiq Nasser, who was made leader of the Suwayda branch of the Military Intelligence Directorate in 2011, "played a key role" in expanding the sale of drugs in the area.[1]

Jaafar was captured in 2015 by a group from Al-Qurayya and turned over to state security, though he was released the same day.[1]

Jaafar was kidnapped on 19 March 2018 and his body was found a week later. The Sheikh al-Karama Forces took responsibility for his death, saying that he had acknowledged the responsibility of Hezbollah, Military Security and Nasser for the assassination of Druze sheikh Wahid al-Balous.[3] Jaafar was "visibly injured" in a video taken before his death.[1]
