The company was founded as Vision Critical in 2000 by Andrew Reid.^[3][4]

By 2011 the company had installed its 500th digital community.^[5] In 2019, the company expanded into the customer experience management market with a new executive team.^[6]

In 2020, Vision Critical rebranded to Alida.^[7] Between 2020 - 2022 the company released over 200 new enhancements to its Total Experience Management platform.^[8]
