Aponomma
Genus of ticks From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aponomma is a former, now defunct, genus of ticks belonging to the family Ixodidae.[1] Aponomma remains a subgenus of Amblyomma, comprising former 'typical' Aponomma.
The genus was fragmented in 1972, with the proposal of three distinct groups.[2] In 1999, nuclear rDNA analysis demonstrated that the genus was polyphyletic, and following this finding, the genus was redistributed. Today, the former member species constitute wholly or partially the Amblyomma, Archaeocroton, Bothriocroton, Haemaphysalis and Robertsicus genera.[3][4][1]
