The program is coached by Ed Eyestone.[4] The track and field program officially encompasses four teams because the NCAA considers men's and women's indoor track and field and outdoor track and field as separate sports.[5]
The men's team finished in a three-way-tie at the 1970 NCAA University Division Outdoor Track and Field Championships, their only national team title.[6] They originally placed 2nd, but were promoted to winner in 1971 after California's Isaac Curtis was found to be ineligible.[7]
