Perspective
Beth was born in Súria. After finishing school, she studied musical theatre in Barcelona and lived for a time in the United Kingdom, as well as participated in humanitarian missions in Africa.[2]
In 2002, she entered the musical talent show Operación Triunfo. She finished third, but in a separate vote was selected by the audience to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest 2003.[3] She finished eighth at Eurovision with the song "Dime" (Tell Me), which was a number one hit in Spain; that edition of the contest was the most watched TV program in Spain in 2003.[4] She was referred by British commentator Terry Wogan as Kylie Minogue in dreadlocks, which was played on by many British tabloids.[5]
Beth released her first studio album entitled Otra realidad, which included "Dime", on 23 April 2003 with Vale Music. It peaked at number one on the weekly Spanish Albums Chart and sold 200,000 copies; it ranked tenth in the year-end albums chart.[6]
In 2004, Beth released live album and DVD Palau de la Música Catalana, from her first concert tour Gira Otra realidad 03-04.[7]
On 9 October 2006, Beth released her second studio album, My Own Way Home, this time with Warner Music. Most of the album was composed in London.[8]
On 18 May 2010, Beth released her first Catalan language album, Segueix-me el fil. At the same time, she developed a career as a theatre actress, and in 2013 she starred in the stage musical La Dona vinguda del futur, produced by the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya and created by Marc Rosich and Guille Milkyway.[9]
Beth's fourth studio album, Família was released in 2013.[10]
From 2013 to 2019, she collaborated with the Simfònica de Cobla i Corda de Catalunya on the albums *Llegendes del Musical*, *Llegendes del Pop&Rock*, *The Very Best*, *Tossudament Llach* (which won the 2017 Enderrock Award for Best Classical Album by public vote) and *Clàssics Enderrock*, and participated in performances of these projects at the Auditori de Girona and across Catalonia.[11][12][13][14][15]
In 2021, she released the album *Origen* after a seven-year recording hiatus with the label U98 Music.[16]
In 2022, she released *Natural Women* in collaboration with pianist Laura Andrés.[17]

Television career
Beth has worked on several programs for TV3, including *Jo vull ser*, *Temps de Neu* and *El Club*.[18] She also wrote the song “On és l’amor?” for the TV3 series *Mar de fons*, in which she appeared in one episode.[19]
In 2009 and 2010, she hosted the TV3 casting show *Buscant la Trinca* (“Searching for La Trinca”), which aimed to find a new generation of performers to form “La Trinca del segle XXI”.[20][21]
She made her theatrical debut in November 2006 in the comedy *Pels Pèls* at the Borràs Theatre in Barcelona. She later acted in Calixto Bieito’s production of *Tirant lo Blanc*, which toured internationally.[22]

Controversy
After representing Spain in Eurovision 2003 with the song “Dime”, her later comments—such as “I did not agree with the song I represented nor the country” and “I feel very Catalan. Everyone knows it, that’s all I can tell you”—sparked controversy over her support for Catalan independence.[23]
Criticism deepened when her album *Segueix-me el fil* was released only in Catalonia, the Valencian Community, and the Balearic Islands.
This culminated in controversy after a photo emerged showing her presenting at an event for the Catalan pro-independence party Sobirania i Progrés.[24]
