During its height, the fire threatened ranch facilities, traffic on U.S. Route 93 Alternate, and Boone Springs Station.

The Boone Springs Fire started around 11 a.m. on July 4, 2018. The cause remains unknown. Burning understory and short grass, the fire threatened minor ranch structures and U.S. Route 93 Alternate. The fire was contained on July 9 at a size of 3,073 acres (12 km²).^[1]
