Description

The species had submerged leaves.[2][3]

Taxonomy

The species was described by Louis Laurent [fr] and Pierre Marty [fr] in 1940. The original spelling was Cabomba pitoni. The type specimen was collected in Menat, Puy-de-Dôme, France.[1] It has been dated either to the Eocene,[3][2] or to the Paleocene (Selandian).[1]
