Capitophorus hippophaes (common name - polygonum aphid), is a species of aphid in the family Aphididae.[2] It was first described in 1852 by Francis Walker as Aphis hippophaes.[3][4]
Primary host plants are species in the Hippophae family,[5] and in the genus Elaeagnus,[2] and secondary hosts are species in the genera Persicaria, and Polygonum.[2]
It is native to Europe.[6] However, it is also found in the United States and Canada,[7] New Zealand,[8] the Korean Peninsula,[9] Taiwan,[10] Pakistan, South Africa, Georgia, Bangladesh, Ecuador,[11] and Australia.
