Sports career

He was born in Seoul, South Korea.^{[citation needed]}

In 2008, he won the gold medal in the +80 kg category at the Beijing Olympic Games.^[2][3]

He participated in the 2012 London Olympic Games to defend his title as the Number 1 seed in the 80 kg division, but was eliminated in the Quarterfinal round against Bahri Tanrıkulu of Turkey.^[4]

He competed for the 2016 Rio Olympics in the same division where he won a bronze medal. This was his last International competition, as he announced his retirement.^[4][5]
