Chernsky District (Russian: Че́рнский райо́н) is an administrative district (raion), one of the twenty-three in Tula Oblast, Russia.[1] As a municipal division, it is incorporated as Chernsky Municipal District.[4] It is located in the southwest of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,614 square kilometers (623 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Chern.[1] Population: 20,476 (2010 Census);[3] 23,006 (2002 Census);[7] 22,605 (1989 Soviet census).[8] The population of Chern accounts for 31.3% of the district's total population.[3]
