Chertkovsky District (Russian: Чертко́вский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[4] district (raion), one of the forty-three in Rostov Oblast, Russia. It is located in the northwest of the oblast. The area of the district is 2,766 square kilometers (1,068 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a settlement) of Chertkovo.[1] Population: 36,680 (2010 Census);[3] 39,974 (2002 Census);[6] 40,355 (1989 Soviet census).[7] The population of Chertkovo accounts for 29.5% of the district's total population.[3]
