The Coat of arms of East Java is a shield with a pentagonal base shape. This symbol consists of images of stars, hero monuments, volcanoes, temple gates, rice fields and fields, rice and cotton, rivers, wheels and chains, with a white ribbon bearing the regional motto written in Old Javanese: Jer Basuki Mawa Beya.[1][2]

The star is a symbol of the Almighty God. The hero's monument symbolizes the heroism of the people of East Java in the war of independence. The volcano symbolizes the spirit of achieving a just and prosperous society. The gate of the temple is a symbol of the ideals of the struggle of the past and present. Rice fields and fields, as well as rivers symbolize prosperity. Rice and cotton symbolize clothing and food which are the basic needs of the people every day. While the wheels and chains are symbols of strength and development.[1][2]
