The band's first recording, two songs originally intended to be released by the Speed Queens, were Death on the Elevator and Embalmed Love—on the Bemisbrain Records compilation Hell Comes to Your House (1981).[1] This was followed by the full length album Cry for Help in 1982. The group performed at house parties and clubs in and around Los Angeles at such venues as the Whisky a Go Go, the Cathay de Grande, and Anti Club.[2][1]
Eva O is regarded as an influential female deathrocker along with Dinah Cancer, frontwoman for 45 Grave, and Voodoo Church's Tina Winter.[3] She was the only member of the Super Heroines to remain throughout its various line up changes.
Some past members of the band continued their music careers with other groups while others pursued careers in radio, acting, and modeling.

Eva O continued to perform with Christian Death in the early 1980s and is today the vocalist for Christian Death 1334, a touring and recording version of Christian Death with the members of the Only Theatre of Pain album.
Bassist Jill Emery and Eva O went on to play with Christian Death frontman Rozz Williams in his next band, Shadow Project, during the 1990s.
Emery played bass with alternative rock band Hole on their 1991 debut album Pretty on the Inside. She later played bass in Mazzy Star and Teardrain. She is currently a visual artist.[4]
Original drummer Del Mar Richardson continued his music career and later pursued acting, modeling, and radio. He was a session drummer for Argyle Ghosts, a group founded by Rich LaBonte and featuring Kim Fowley; from 1988 to 1989, he was a member of the Bachelors Anonymous.[5] In 2009, he appeared in the Eagles music video for Busy Being Fabulous and later in the KT Tunstall music video for Feel It All (2013).[6] He produced, edited and wrote the fictional radio series Peter Tulkin: From Far Away (2018–2020) for Barcelona City FM 107.3 radio.
Drummer Steve Darrow went on to play in Hollywood Rose, the pre-Guns N' Roses band that featured Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin. Before joining Super Heroines, Darrow had played in punk trio The Decadents with Jill Emery from 1978 to 1982.
Drummer Cathy Falanga, with the band from 1986 to 1998,[7] went on to appear on Manchester, Vermont-based radio station WEQX under the name Cat Noel. She would later be half of the "Darwin and Cat" morning talk show duo on WINU, New York (formerly WZMR). She appeared on Wife Swap as a shock jock who trades lives with a woman who runs a pet crematorium. Since January 2012 she has appeared on the podcast version of Darwin and Cat.
