Plot
Daffy Duck, acting as a shady hotel-keeper, tricks traveler Porky Pig into staying at his hotel for a dime. He then orchestrates a series of disturbances using animals, charging Porky increasingly exorbitant fees to remove them. It starts with a mouse, escalates to a cat, and spirals out of control with a boxer dog, lion, and elephant, going full circle with the mouse again. Each eviction fee climbs higher until Porky is fed up and leaves without paying. In retaliation, Daffy insists on impounding Porky's luggage.
In retaliation, the backfire from Porky's car inadvertently sets off explosives in his luggage (he's a blasting powder salesman), causing an explosion in Daffy's hotel. As Daffy's tailfeathers catch fire, he dashes away.
Home media
Dime to Retire is included in the Looney Tunes Super Stars' Daffy Duck: Frustrated Fowl DVD, presented uncensored and uncut, albeit cropped to widescreen as seen in its theatrical release. It is also featured on the VHS release, Daffy Duck: Madcap Mania.
