Dowar Islet is an island locality in the Torres Strait Island Region, Queensland, Australia.[3] It consists of a single island, Daua Island (also known as Dowar Island) which is one of the Murray Islands group in the Torres Strait.[4] In the 2021 census, Dowar Islet had "no people or a very low population".[1]

The island was declared a locality on 2 July 2010.[3]

In the 2016 census, Dowar Islet had "no people or a very low population".[6]

Education

There are no schools on Dowar Islet. The nearest government primary school is the Mer campus of Talgai State College on nearby Mer Island, approximately 4.0 kilometres (2.5 mi) to the north-east. There are no secondary schools nearby as Talgai State College's secondary campus is on Thursday Island which has boarding school facilities.[7]
