Ebenezer, less commonly spelled Ebenezar, is a male given name of Hebrew origin meaning "stone of the help" (derived from the phrase Eben ha-Ezer).[1] The name is sometimes abbreviated as Eben. Ebenezer Scrooge from Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol has given the name a negative connotation.[2]
