Edaganasalai is a panchayat town in Sankari taluk of Salem district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is one of the 31 panchayat towns in the district. Spread across an area of 24 km2 (9.3 sq mi), it had a population of 33,245 individuals as per the 2011 census.

Edaganasalai is located in Sankari taluk of Salem district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.[1] Spread across an area of 24 km2 (9.3 sq mi),[2] it is one of the of the 31 panchayat towns in the district.[3] The town panchayat is headed by a chairperson, who is elected by the members, who are chosen through direct elections.[4] The town forms part of the Sankari Assembly constituency that elects its member to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly and the Namakkal Lok Sabha constituency that elects its member to the Parliament of India.[5]

Demographics
As per the 2011 census, Edaganasalai had a population of 33,245 individuals across 8,631 households.[6] The population saw a marginal increase compared to the previous census in 2001 when 29,635 inhabitants were registered. The population consisted of 3,547 males and 3,674 females.[2][7] About 3,546 individuals were below the age of six years.[6] About 3.8% of the population belonged to scheduled castes and 2% belonged to scheduled tribes. The entire population is classified as urban. The town has an average literacy rate of 68.1%.[2][6]
About 50.8% of the eligible population were employed, of which majority were involved in agriculture and allied activities.[2][6] Hinduism was the majority religion which was followed by 99.3% of the population, with Christianity (0.4%) and Islam (0.3%) being minor religions.[8]
