In March 2024, several Republicans filed challenges to the Senate seat held by Democratic incumbent Mike Fanning, including Stubbs^[2] and businessmen Tripp McCoy^[3] and Tibi Czentye.^[4] Stubbs won the Republican primary to face Fanning.^[5]

Stubbs pledged to support term limits^[6] and was endorsed by Americans for Prosperity - South Carolina.^[7]

Fanning conceded to Stubbs after a close race which triggered an automatic recount.^{[8][9][10][11]}
