F. L. Anthing

Life and education

Anthing was born in Batavia (modern-day Jakarta) on 1820^[3] and died on 1883 in a tram accident.^[4] His father was Dutch and her mother was German.^[3] He earned his degree in law in the Netherlands.^[1] He earned the title Meester in de Rechten (Mr.).^[4] After finishing his studies, he worked at the Semarang district court since late 1850s.^[1] Then, around 1863, Anthing moved to Batavia and worked as the district court vice deputy.^[1] After retiring, Anthing fully focuses on evangelising.
