Fatal Truth is a mystery novel by American author Robin Burcell[1][2], published by Avon Books[3][4] (an imprint of HarperCollins[5]) on 30 July 2002. It is the second book in the Kate Gillespie series. The novel won the Anthony Award for Best Paperback Original in 2003[6] and was also nominated for the Barry Award for Best Paperback Original in the same year.[7][8]

Plot
In Fatal Truth, San Francisco Police Department Homicide Inspector Kate Gillespie faces a career-threatening crisis after receiving a frantic phone call from an informant. Pulled from her office, she arrives at a clandestine meeting just in time to witness the informer being shot dead by another police officer. This incident turns Kate into a target as she delves into a treacherous path of dirty deals, corruption, and escalating violence.
