The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) is a federal government-owned university located in Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria. It was established in 1981 by the Federal Government of Nigeria.[1]

In January 2020, FUTA was ranked sixth in Nigeria by Webometrics.[2][3]

In 2023, it was ranked fifth in Nigeria by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.[4]

In 2024, it was ranked third and fifth in Nigeria by Times Higher Education and Webometrics, respectively.[5][6]

In 2025, it was ranked seventh in Nigeria by Times Higher Education.[7] In July 2025, it was ranked tenth in Nigeria and 2,096th in the world by Webometrics.[8]

The Albert Ilemobade Library is located beside the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology. Students are required to register in their first year to access services.[17][18]

The library is named after Professor Albert Ilemobade, the university's second Vice-Chancellor. It was founded in 1982 at the Old Library complex on the mini campus. By April 2006, it was relocated to a permanent two-story building with a floor area of approximately 1,614.74 m2 and a seating capacity of 2,500.[19]

It is open to senior staff, students of the institution, and alumni of the university. The library also admits outside learners with valid reasons and a letter of introduction from a recognized university official (i.e., dean of a faculty, head of department from the visitor's school or director of an organization).[20][21]

Student Radio

The university operates a radio station, FUTA Radio[22][23] (93.1MHz), on campus. Programmes include a morning news bulletin, a talk show on education, a music program, a special segment highlighting achievements and success stories of students, faculty, and alumni, and a podcast on social issues.[22]
