A gharry, gharri, or gari (Hindi: गाड़ी, gāṛī, "cart, carriage, truck, car") is a horse-drawn cab[citation needed] in Indian and Burmese contexts. A palkigari (Hindi: पालकी गाड़ी, pālkī gāṛī) is shaped like an Indian litter (palanquin). A fleet of them were maintained along the main post roads of British India from the 1840s. A gharry driver is a gharry-wallah.
