Grangemockler is the home of Grangemockler/Ballyneale GAA club. The local Roman Catholic church is dedicated to Saint Mary and was built c.1880.[3] The Battle of Carrigmoclear, an event during the 1798 Rebellion, took place on the foothills of Slievenamon just outside of the village.[4][5] Grangemockler likely gets its name from the Norman Irish family Mockler.
