Granite Island Recreation Park is a protected area including all of Granite Island which is about 0.6 kilometres (0.37 miles) south-east of Victor Harbor in South Australia and about 120 kilometres (75 miles) south of Adelaide. It is reported as being 'the most visited park in South Australia'.[5] It was proclaimed in 1999 under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1972 and is categorised as an IUCN Category IV protected area.[1][3]
