Mission
Green Power's primary mission is to foster environmental consciousness through education. The organization emphasizes the role of learning in fostering long-term behavioral changes and the preservation of the environment. It also advocates for community participation to address environmental challenges.[1]
Activities and works
Green Power Hike
The Green Power Hike is an annual charitable walk-a-thon organized by Green Power. It is the largest event held along the 50-kilometer Hong Kong Trail. First launched in 1994 with around 100 participants, the hike has since attracted over 28,000 participants and raised more than HK$26 million. In 2008, the event saw approximately 3,000 participants and raised over HK$4 million. All funds raised are allocated to support local environmental education programs in kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools.[2]
Butterfly Conservation
Hong Kong is home to over 260 species of butterflies, and Green Power actively promotes their conservation. Efforts include educational programs and initiatives to protect butterfly habitats.[3]
