Heavy Metal is the debut solo album by Geese frontman Cameron Winter. It was released through Partisan Records and Play It Again Sam on December 6, 2024, and was met with critical acclaim.

Recording and production

According to Winter, he worked with musicians he found on Craigslist, as well as a 5-year old boy who played bass, and recorded parts of Heavy Metal at Guitar Center locations in New York City.[1][2]

The album was co-produced by Winter and Loren Humphrey in Tuxedo Park, New York.[3][4]

Heavy Metal was released through Partisan Records on December 6, 2024.[9] It received positive reviews from Pitchfork,[7] Paste,[6][10] The Line of Best Fit,[5] The Needle Drop,[8] GQ,[1] and UpRoxx.[11] It has been further praised by other musicians, such as Waxahatchee and Nick Cave.[12][13][14]

It was named one of the best debut albums of 2024 by Paste[15] and an early entry for one of the best albums of 2025 by several publications, given its late 2024 release.[16][17][18][19]
