Heweliusz is an upcoming Polish drama television miniseries about the sinking of the MS Jan Heweliusz. Featuring an ensemble cast, it will be released on Netflix in late 2025.

Premise
In 1993, the Polish ferry MS Jan Heweliusz capsizes off the coast of Rügen in the Baltic Sea.[1]

Production

The series was announced as "the largest and most complex Polish television series production in recent years," featuring over 120 named characters and 3,000 extras, and requiring a crew of over 140 members.[2]
Filming took place from January to August 2024.[3] The series was shot in Świnoujście, Szczecin, Zgorzelec, Gdynia, Sopot, Nowy Port, Wrocław, Warsaw, Chałupki, and Stargard. Additionally, water stunt scenes were filmed in a studio in Brussels.[4][5]

Release
In March 2024, Netflix presented clips from the series at the Series Mania festival.[6][7] The series will be released on Netflix in late 2025.[8][9]
