Perspective
Similarly to its predecessor, Hyperfunk centres around traversing on either a skateboard, inline skates, or BMX bike, and performing tricks. Executing tricks fuels the player's boostpack, which allows them to boost forward. In a new addition, the boost speeds up as the player's combo score increases.[4] This boost allows the player to run up the sides of buildings. Alternatively, the boost meter can be consumed to increase the size of graffiti.[3] The city can be freely moved around in and characters can be recruited to the player's crew. Music tracks and other move styles can be found by exploring.[4]
The game involves painting graffiti over enemy graffiti and retaking areas, 'Bombing' them. Four classes of graffiti are available for the player to use: Tags, Throwies, Pieces and Blockbusters. Unlike in Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, enemy crews can compete with others and take over areas independently from story progression and player actions. Graffiti Battles are a new feature in which the player's crew competes with another in real time to see who can 'Bomb' the area, escape the police and claim the area for their crew.[4]
In The Hyper, players can meet other random online players or play with friends on the streets.[4] The player can compete against friends in graffiti battles, in which the player who applies the most graffiti is victorious.[3]

Plot
The game is set in a 'bright future' in which society is shaped by an online space known as The Hyper. In real life, graffiti groups compete to 'bomb' areas by applying graffiti and claiming them for themselves.[4]
Development and release
In 2023, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk director Dion Koster spoke about Team Reptile's next game which was in pre-production, noting it was in the 'same vein' as Cyberfunk but 'leveled up and wilder.'[5]
Hyperfunk was revealed in a teaser on Team Reptiles YouTube channel on 19 September 2025.[6] Team Reptile's booth at Tokyo Game Show 2025 contained a playable demo for the game.[1][3]
Soundtrack
The game will feature radio stations with different styles of music which can be switched by the player.[3]
Dj Zapy and Dj Uragun's Sch Amo (Hyper Version) featured in the game's teaser.[2] Music from Japanese rapper ONJUICY will feature in the game.[3]
