iTunes Session was met with generally mixed reviews from critics. Justin Gerber of Consequence asked "If there's nothing special to distinguish this from the original recording, then why bother?"^[10] Stephen M. Deusner of Pitchfork said the album "emphasizes the immediate over the arty" towards the end.^[11] Will Hermes of Rolling Stone said the songs "all roll pretty good".^[12] Sami Ross of The Trail said the album is a "wonderful glimpse into Wilco's career throughout the decades".^[13]
