Imogen Walker

Imogen Walker is a British Labour Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Hamilton and Clyde Valley since the 2024 UK general election.[1][2] She is currently a parliamentary private secretary for Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves.[3]

Early life and education
Walker comes from Lanark[4] and went to school in Stirling.[5] She attended drama school in London[4] and graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a Masters in mental philosophy.
Early career
Walker worked as
- an actor, including roles in Taggart, Doctors and The Big Read,[5] from 1999-2007,[6]
- a political consultant,
- a vice president of the RSPCA, the animal welfare charity.
She also served as
- a ward councillor, deputy finance leader, and deputy leader (from 2014-2018[4]) for the London Borough of Lambeth.[7]
Parliamentary career
In the 2024 United Kingdom general election Walker was elected as MP for the new constituency of Hamilton and Clyde Valley with a majority of 9,472.[8] Shortly after being elected, she was appointed as Parliamentary Private Secretary to Rachel Reeves, Chancellor of the Exchequer.[9]
Personal life
Walker is married to Morgan McSweeney, the Chief of Staff to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.[10] They have a son together.[11]
