Popularity in the Metal Gear fandom

In 2023, the song started being used by fans of the Metal Gear video game franchise in fan edits of cutscenes from the Metal Gear Solid series.[4][5]

On February 10, 2024, a particular fan edit post utilising visuals from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was officially recognised by both Konami[citation needed] and the band, with the band reposting the video on their TikTok account and attaching the caption:

Using Duran Duran's 'INVISIBLE' caught us off guard in the best way possible. Thanks to [video creator] for totally understanding our song.

The popularity of the song in the fandom also lead to an inside joke where community members would attempt to jokingly gaslight other members into believing that the song was included in the soundtrack for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, despite not being possible due to the song being released after the game.[5]
