Iqbal Ahmad (1947–2025) was an IAS officer of 1974 batch, and was allotted to Madhya Pradesh Cadre. He served the Madhya Pradesh government as IAS officer before and after his retirement time: 31 December 2007. [1]

Early life
Iqbal Ahamd was born in 1947 at Lar Deoria Uttar Pradesh. He received his early education in his native town and later completed B.A. degree from University of Allahabad, but not judicial education. He qualified the IAS examination in 1974 and was allotted Madhya Pradesh Cadre. [1][2]
Career
Iqbal Ahmad held District Magistrate (DM) position in the 1980s including at District Sehore (1980-1983) prior to working as low-level district administrators in the allotted cadre Madhya Pradesh of 1974 batch.[3] During early 1990s he was appointed as Commissioner of Indore division in Madhya Pradesh. [1]After that he was posted in the state capital Bhopal that houses the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly and the secretariat of the state government. Iqbal Ahmad handled the responsibilities of many departments, i.e., Principal Secretary Revenue, Agriculture Production Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Urban Administration Development under the state government. [4] Later from Agriculture Production Commissioner, Iqbal Ahmed was promoted to Additional Chief Secretary rank, posting order of which issued by the Madhya Pradesh government; he was shifted to the State Finance Commission as a member (2007). [5] He retired on Dec 31, 2007 from the aforementioned posts. After retirement, the Madhya Pradesh government made him Information commissioner and later elevated him as Chief Information Commissioner in the state (2012).[6]

Death
Iqbal Ahmad died on 09 May 2025 and was buried in Jahangirabad Karastan, Bhopal.[1]
