Johnson is a patronymic surname of Anglo-Norman origin. It is a patronym of the given name John and literally means "son of John". It is the second most common in the United States.[1][2] The name John derives from Latin Johannes, which is derived through Greek Ἰωάννης Iōannēs from Hebrew יוחנן Yohanan, meaning "Yahweh has favoured".[1]
