Born in Liverpool, Yarney began his career at Everton, before moving to Newcastle United in July 2017.[3] He signed on loan for Morecambe on 11 August 2018,[4] making his senior debut later that same day.[5] In January 2019 he moved on loan to Chesterfield.[6]
After being released by Newcastle at the end of the 2018–19 season,[7] in June 2019 it was announced that he would sign permanently for Chesterfield after the expiry of his contract on 30 June 2019.[8]

In July 2023 he signed a one-year contract with Tranmere Rovers as a free agent.[17] He was released at the end of the 2023–24 season.[18]
In October 2024, Yarney signed for West Bank Premier League side Hilal Al-Quds.[19]
On 6 February 2025, Yarney returned to England, joining National League South side Boreham Wood.[20]
On 7 July 2025, it was announced that Yarney had been signed by National League North side Macclesfield. [21]
