Jude is a unisex, primarily masculine given name of Hebrew origin meaning "praise." It is an English variant of Judas, which is itself a Greek form of Judah, an English version of the Hebrew name יְהוּדָה, which is written in Latin as Yehuḏa. Variants of the name are used for several Biblical figures. Jude the Apostle is a Roman Catholic patron saint of hopeless cases.[1] It is also occasionally used as a feminine short form of the names Judith or Judy or as an independent feminine given name.[2]
