History

The station was assigned the KGCX call letters by the Federal Communications Commission on February 3, 2004;^[3] it signed on June 1.^[4]

Founding owner Stephen Marks died on May 11, 2022;^[5] the station had been owned by his Sidney Community Broadcasting. Andrew Sturlaugson's P&A Media acquired Marks' Montana and North Dakota radio stations, including KGCX, for $850,000 in 2024.^[6]
