KOPR airs the syndicated, "Custom Rock Hits" music format from Jones Radio Networks. The station has aired an adult hits format for several years.

The station signed on the air on October 1, 1972.^[2] The call letters were previously used by an AM radio station in the same city on 550 AM which merged with KBOW in 1964.
