Muhammad Kamil bin Abdul Munim (Jawi: محمّد كامل بن عبدالمنعم; born 29 April 1990) is a Malaysian politician and lawyer who has served as the Political Secretary to the Minister of Finance of Malaysia since January 2023.[1] He is a member and the Division Chief of Padang Rengas of the People's Justice Party (PKR), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. He has served as the 6th Youth Chief of PKR since May 2025.

Muhammad Kamil bin Abdul Munim was born on 29 April 1990 at Kuala Kangsar Hospital, Kuala Kangsar, Perak, Malaysia. Muhammad Kamil is the 11th child out of 12 siblings of Abdul Munim Mohd Zain (his father) and Salasiah Mahiyudin (his mother). His father is also a politician, who once contested as a Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) candidate in the 1995 and 1999 Malaysian general elections in the Lubok Merbau in the Padang Rengas constituency. His grandfather, Mohd Zain Mohd Noh, was one of the founders of Maahad Al-Yahyawiyah, Padang Rengas, Perak.
Muhammad Kamil attended Raja Muda Musa Primary School, Kuala Kangsar (1997–2002) and Bukit Merchu Secondary School, Kuala Kangsar (2003–2007). After he graduated from his high school, he went to the Centre for Foundation Studies, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Gambang, Pahang for one year from 2008 until 2009. He later pursuing his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree at the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Gombak, Selangor (2010–2013). During his university years, he was once elected as the Student Representative in the AIKOL faculty seat and appointed as the Chairman of Academic and Intellectual Affairs.

Law career

After graduating from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Muhammad Kamil began his career as a lawyer at the law firm of Messrs. K K Lim & Associates on 2014. He was admitted to the Malaysian Bar on 3 July 2015.
Political career
Muhammad Kamil joined the People's Justice Party (PKR) in 2015. In 2018, he was appointed as the Exco of the AMK Perak. Later, he was nominated to contest as the Deputy Youth Chief of AMK Malaysia. Kamil faced Chua Wei Kiat, the Rawang assemblyman as a challenger. He managed to defeat Wei Kiat with a small majority, by 11,526 votes against 10,389 votes.
Muhammad Kamil contested on the Pakatan Harapan ticket in the Padang Rengas parliamentary constituency in the 2022 Malaysian general election, but lost by a majority of 5,869 votes to the Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate, Azahari Hasan. He has been serving as the Political Secretary to the Minister of Finance of Malaysia since 23 January 2023.[1]
At the 2025 party election, Muhammad Kamil successfully won the position of PKR Padang Rengas Branch Chief, defeating Lukman Yahaya, with 532 votes against 85 votes.[2] He later won uncontested as the Youth Chief of the PKR, since there were no other nominations for that position.
Personal life
Muhammad Kamil is married and has four children.
