Karin Illgen (born 7 April 1941) is a German discus thrower who competed for East Germany during her career and appeared at the 1968 Summer Olympics.[1]

Biography

Illgen won the British WAAA Championships title in the discus throw event at the 1968 WAAA Championships.[2][3][4]

At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, she represented East Germany, finishing in tenth place in the overall-rankings.[5]

Illgen is best known for winning the gold medal in the women's discus event at the 1970 Summer Universiade in Torino. She also participated at the 1971 European Championships in Athletics, but was eliminated in the qualification round.

She later competed in masters athletics.
