Perspective
Kev Brown made his recording debut as a featured artist on Re-Entry (2001), part of Marley Marl's BBE Beat Generation series. His collaboration with Grap Luva on the project gained attention within the underground hip-hop scene. Later that year, he contributed a track to De La Soul's album AOI: Bionix.
In 2002, Brown further established his reputation by contributing to DJ Jazzy Jeff’s album The Magnificent. As a member of Jazzy Jeff’s production collective A Touch of Jazz, he was credited with producing seven tracks on the project. However, broader recognition came in January 2004 with the release of The Brown Album, a remix of Jay-Z’s The Black Album. Brown was among the first producers to remix the project, which has since inspired over 100 unofficial versions. Although his work was somewhat overshadowed by the publicity surrounding DJ Danger Mouse’s The Grey Album, Brown’s remix helped him build a dedicated fan base.
Following a series of productions and collaborations during 2003 and 2004, Brown released his solo debut I Do What I Do in 2005 through the independent label Up Above Records. The single "Life's a Gamble" was released later that year. As of the latest reports, Kev Brown has been collaborating with Freddie Foxxx on a full-length project.[4]
