Kane was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He went on to graduate from Coastal Carolina University[3][4] and later the William Esper Studio in New York City.[5] Kane made his screen debut appearing in a small part in the 2000 drama film, Swimming and later made guest appearances on Law & Order, One Life to Live and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. He is one of founding members of The Collective NY, a New York-based stage production company.[6] With one of the members, Amy Schumer, Kane produced the Comedy Central sketch comedy series, Inside Amy Schumer from 2013 to 2022, receiving Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Scripted Variety Series in 2015.[7] He also made 20-episodes recurring appearance on Inside Amy Schumer playing various roles and directed two episodes during the final season. Kane also appeared opposite Schumer in her 2015 romantic comedy film, Trainwreck.
Kane produced Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo (2015), Amy Schumer: The Leather Special (2017), Snatched (2017), I Feel Pretty (2018), Amy Schumer: Growing (2019), Expecting Amy (2020), and Life & Beth (2022–2024).[5] On Life & Beth, Kane also played a main role as Matt, her boyfriend, as well as directed several episodes.[8][9][10][11]
Kane appeared in films The Rainbow Experiment (2018), Lez Bomb (2018) and The Irishman (2019). On television, he guest-starred on White Collar, Blue Bloods, No Activity and FBI: Most Wanted. He had the recurring roles on Chicago P.D. in 2016, and Bonding in 2018.[1] He played four different guest-starring roles on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, before was cast as Detective Terry Bruno for season 24 and season 25.[12][13][14] In July 2024, it was announced that Kane would be promoted to series regular for the show's 26th season.[15]
